Loyola Basketball Staff To Participate In Suits And Sneakers Weekend

Jan. 31, 2008

CHICAGO - On Saturday, Feb. 2, the Loyola University Chicago men's basketball staff will wear sneakers for the Ramblers' game versus Horizon League foe Cleveland State. By wearing sneakers, the coaches are raising awareness among fans about the fight against cancer and the importance that nutrition and physical activity plays in reducing people's risk of the disease.

Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend runs Feb. 1-3 and is a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that empowers basketball coaches, their teams and communities to fight against cancer. Since the program's inception in 1993, more than 500 coaches have raised nearly $40 million to support the Society's efforts to eliminate cancer.

Suits and Sneakers will unite coaches from across the country in the common effort to raise cancer awareness in their communities. Fans are also encouraged to lace up their sneakers on Feb. 2 for the Loyola game versus Cleveland State to help make a difference.
