Loyola Men In Driver's Seat Heading Into Final Round
Caputo Invitational Men's Results Thru Round 2 April 14, 2008
MUNDELEIN, Ill. - Loyola University Chicago finds itself in the driver's seat after two rounds of play today at the Caputo Invitational at Pine Meadow Golf Course. The Ramblers, who posted a score of 604, hold a slim two-stroke advantage over Creighton (606) in the eight-team tournament. Loyola was led by junior Armando Favela, who carded a 148 (71-77) and shot a one-under-par 71 in the opening round of play. Favela's 148 put him a mere two strokes behind Sean Baxter of Chicago State (73-73) and John Sutko of Creighton (71-75), who sit atop the leaderboard after 36 holes of action with identical scores of 146. After shooting a 78 in round one, Thomas Greene carded a one-under 71 to finish with a 149. Robert Caplin posted a 153 (80-73), Sean Bidzinski fired a 156 (77-79) and Dylan Gergen tallied a 162 (78-84) to round out Loyola's squad. The Loyola Gold squad was led by the tandem of Kevin Emmerich (82-80) and Sean Lannon (75-87), who each notched a 162. Aaron Harter posted a 165 (80-85), Sean Collopy a 166 (81-85), Matt Novaria a 170 (86-84) and Peter Tomkie a 175 (85-90) to round out the Gold team's lineup.
