Bidzinski Named U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete Of The Month
May 6, 2008
CHICAGO - Sean Bidzinski, a junior on the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team, has been selected as the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month for April, it was announced yesterday by the League office. He is the first Loyola male to earn the honor this season. In five meets in April, Bidzinski shot under 75 on a pair of occasions, both coming at the competitive Boilermaker Invitational, which featured three nationally ranked teams. At that meet, the left-hander posted a 54-hole score of 221 (70-74-77), including a two-under-par 70 in the opening round to lead all Rambler golfers. He recorded a 15th-place finish at the Caputo Invitational with a 236 (77-79-80) to help Loyola capture first-place as a team and then notched a 23rd-place showing at the Horizon League Championship with a 233 (78-77-78) as Loyola snared fourth place. Off the course, Bidzinski carries a 3.92 grade-point average and majors in finance. He is a member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll and has helped the men's golf team record the highest GPA of any men's sport at Loyola in each of the last two years. Two weeks ago, he was hailed as the U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week (April 22). To be eligible for U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month honors, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale, have completed at least one year at the member institution and passed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours, and perform well during the month's competition. Winners are selected by a group of League faculty athletic representatives. |
