Box Score

CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago men's volleyball team held MIVA foe Quincy to a meager .122 hitting percentage as the Ramblers claimed a 3-0 sweep of the visiting Hawks at Alumni Gym on Saturday night. With the win, the Ramblers move to 15-11 (7-4 MIVA) on the season, while the Hawks slip to 18-24 (1-11 MIVA) on the year.

Game one was close early on as the conference rivals traded points until they were knotted at 11-all. A kill by Michael Morice jump started the Ramblers' offense as Loyola went on a 6-2 run to take a comfortable 18-13 lead. LU would not surrender its lead as it went on to expand its lead to seven (24-17) on a Morice kill. A Kris Berzins kill would end game one, 30-22.

The Ramblers took advantage of a pair of Hawks' errors to break a 10-10 tie, to take a 12-10 lead in game two. Back-to-back aces by George Kamberos gave the Ramblers their largest lead of the game (28-22). Loyola eventually held on to win 30-25, taking a 2-0 lead into the locker room.

Loyola dominated the third and final game as it held the visiting Hawks to a -.120 hitting percentage. Up 18-13, after a kill by Nick Lamoureux, the Ramblers extended their lead to eight (23-15) on a Quincy miscue. A Kamberos kill and a Berzins service ace, helped the Ramblers to a 30-17 victory.

Lamoureux led the Ramblers with nine kills, while Kamberos and Morice contributed eight kills apiece. Kamberos registered six digs and three aces as Morice knocked down a career-high four aces on the night. Setter Mike Hutz recorded 31 assists and five total blocks for the Ramblers.

Quincy's Peter Coley recorded a match-high 12 kills for the Hawks.

The Ramblers return to action on Tuesday, April 8 when they travel to Romeoville, Ill., to go head-to-head with MIVA foe No. 15 Lewis. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
