Loyola Takes Fifth Place At Horizon League Championships

CARMEL, Ind. - Sophomore Lucy McGovern recorded her second straight top-ten finish at the Horizon League Championship as Loyola University Chicago placed fifth at the 54-hole tournament played at Plum Creek Golf Club. The Ramblers, who posted a total of 1,007, finished eight strokes behind Cleveland State. Butler edged Youngstown State, 954-961, to claim the title as the teams wrapped up play with 18 holes today. McGovern, who placed seventh despite battling the flu at last year's League Championship, fired a five-over 77 in today's final round to finish with a 245 (87-81-77) to tie for ninth place and lead the Ramblers. Freshman Lauren Oh posted a four-over 76 today, Loyola's lowest score of the tournament, to finish 13th with a 248 (86-86-76). Kaitlin Kearney placed 16th with a 252 (89-79-84) and Michelle Puch (93-87-87) and Megan Sujack (91-92-84) each tied for 24th with a 267. Freshman Katie Rogner of Youngstown State earned medalist honors, firing a 230 (78-80-72), including an even-par 72 in today's final round, while McGovern was named to the All-Horizon League Team.
