Jackie Vera Trains With Mexican National Team

March 3, 2008

CHICAGO - Loyola women's soccer player Jackie Vera (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) will get a chance to train at the highest level this week as the sophomore midfielder has earned an invitation to train with the Mexican national team this week (March 1-7) in her native Mexico. Vera will join the team as they continue preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

The invitation is another honor for the decorated Vera, who has been named to the All-Horizon League First Team and All-Tournament Team in each of her first two seasons in Rogers Park. Last season, Vera started all 24 matches in a forward/midfield role, helping the Ramblers to their second consecutive Horizon League title and trip to the NCAA Tournament.

The Mexican team comes to the United States on March 8 for three matches against collegiate teams and one versus FC Indiana of the W-League.
