Ramblers Rally For 3-2 Victory Over Texas Tech

Feb. 9, 2008

Box Score

LAS VEGAS - Angie Funston's RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning helped Loyola University Chicago (2-1) cap a late rally and earn a 3-2 victory over Texas Tech at the Sportco Spring Kick-off Classic this morning. Funston finished the day 2 for 4 and Amy Solava tossed six innings without allowing an earned run en route to the win.

After the team played four scoreless innings, Texas Tech jumped on the board in the top of the fifth, plating a pair of runs thanks to two Loyola errors.

The resilient Ramblers evened the score in the bottom of the sixth as Ellen Kresl delivered a run-scoring single and Kat Krause scored on a wild pitch. After holding the Red Raiders at bay in the top of the seventh, Loyola got things started right from the get-go in the bottom half of the inning. Kaycee Tharp led off with a single up the middle and moved to second base on a throwing error. Haley Ambrosch's sacrifice pushed Tharp to third base and following a line-out by Solava, Funston ripped a single to right to score Tharp and give the Ramblers their second straight win.

Loyola plays No. 2/3 Arizona State this afternoon.
