Crosson Named Horizon League Pitcher Of The Week

May 5, 2008

CHICAGO - For the second time this season, Loyola University Chicago right-hander Krista Crosson (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens) has been tabbed Horizon League Softball Pitcher of the Week it was announced today by the League office. The junior helped Loyola post a 3-1 record in four contests last week.

In a 6-1 victory over Detroit in game two of a doubleheader on May 3, Crosson recorded her first win since April 19 by tossing a complete-game four-hitter. She did not allow an earned run and struck out seven batters, her highest total since April 5, while walking only one. She then hurled a pair of scoreless innings of relief in a 12-0 win over the Titans a day later. For the week, Crosson posted a 0.00 ERA and went 1-0 with seven strikeouts in 9.0 innings of toil.

The right-hander is 5-10 with a 3.13 ERA overall this spring, but in Horizon League action, she posted a 4-3 mark with a sparkling 0.91 ERA, while striking out 42 in 54.0 innings.

Loyola opens up play in the Horizon League Championship by hosting Detroit on Thursday, May 8.
