2.28.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University Evangels lost both games of a double header against the Southern Nazarene University Crimson Storm in Sooner Athletic Conference play Thursday, Feb 28. The Evangels were shut-out in the first game 12-0, and fell in the second game 6-1. MACU was 9-for-45 from the plate, and scored just one run in the two games. The Evangels defense gave up 18 runs on the day, 15 of the runs being earned. The Crimson Storm went 18-for-55 from the plate, and drew nine walks in the two games. In the first game, the Crimson Storm jumped on the Evangels early, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning. The MACU offense was stagnant in the first game, getting five hits and failing to get any runners across the plate. SNU scored three more runs in the top of the second inning and took a commanding 7-0 lead. The Evangels offense continued to struggle, while SNU scored a run in the top of the third inning, stretching its lead, 8-0. The Crimson Storm held the Evangels scoreless, and scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning, putting the game away. Senior Mike Wilkinson went 3-for-3 in the game, while Sophomore Rocky Polk and Junior Jake Scott went 1-for-3. Senior Chad Lantz pitched 1.1 innings, giving up six runs and gave up four hits. In the second game, the Crimson Storm scored a run a piece in the top of the first inning and top of the second inning, but the Evangels responded in the bottom of the second inning with a run of their own and cutting the lead, 2-1. Both teams were held scoreless in the third inning, but the Crimson Storm broke the game open in the top of the fourth inning with four runs. SNU held MACU scoreless throughout the remaining of the game and held on for the win. Freshman Collin Greuter went 2-for-3 in the game. Freshman Brad Workman picked up the lone RBI for the Evangels, while Freshman Brandy Vann picked up the only run for MACU. The Evangels fall to 4-12 on the season, and 0-8 in SAC play. MACU will finish the series with the Crimson Storm in a nine inning game Saturday, March 1.
