Final Stats

3.8.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University Evangel lost both games of a double header against the Oklahoma City University Stars in Sooner Athletic Conference action Saturday, March 8. The Stars defeated the Evangels 13-8 in the first game, and 8-3 in the second game.

MACU went 11-for-51 on the day, while OCU batted 25-for-68. The Evangels scored just 11 runs in the two games, compared to 21 OCU runs. MACU committed three errors, while the Stars committed two errors on the day.

In the first game, both teams failed to score in the first inning, but the Stars jumped on the Evangels in the top of the second inning with four runs. OCU shut-out MACU through the first five innings of the game.

The Evangels and the Stars were held scoreless in the third and fourth inning, but OCU took an 8-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. MACU got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runs, cutting the OCU lead, 8-2.

The Stars had a big seventh inning with five runs, and stretched their lead, 13-2. The Evangels rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring six runs, but failed overcome the OCU deficit.

Freshman Collin Greuter came up big for the Evangels, contributing four RBI's. Freshman Brad Workman had two RBI's, while Senior Matthew Howard scored two runs.

In the second game, neither team scored in the first inning, but the Evangels took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. The Stars answered in the third and four innings with two runs in each inning, grabbing a 4-1 lead. MACU scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, cutting the OCU lead, 4-3.

OCU scored a run in the top of the fifth inning, stretching its lead, 5-3. The Stars scored again in the top of the sixth inning, with three more runs, taking an 8-3 lead and opening up the game. MACU failed to put up runs on the board for the rest of the game, while OCU pulled out the win.

Howard went 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Junior Jake Scott scored two of the three MACU runs. Senior Mike Wilkinson chipped in a RBI.

The Evangels are 4-16 on the season, and 0-12 in SAC play.

MACU will battle St. Gregory's University in SAC action on the road Thursday, March 13. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
