April 14, 2008 4.14.08 - EDMOND, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University Evangels fell to the Oklahoma Christian University Evangels in Sooner Athletic Conference action, Monday, April 14. The Eagles defeated the Evangels, 7-4. MACU batted 11-for-36 in the game, including four extra base hits. OC went 13-for-36 on the day. The Evangels committed one error on the day, which lead to one unearned run. MACU left eight runners on base on the afternoon. The Eagles jumped on the Evangels early, scoring two runs in three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Evangels answered in the top of the second and third inning, scoring a run in each inning and cutting the lead, 3-2. MACU took its first lead of the game, 4-3, in the top of the fifth inning, when Freshman Alex Webb brought home two Evangel runners with a two-run double. However, OC responded in the bottom half of the fifth inning, scoring four runs and grabbed a 7-4 lead. The Eagles held off the Evangels in the following innings, winning the game. Senior Craig Southard pitched 3.1 shut-out inning in relief, giving up just three hits. Webb finished the game 1-for-3 with two RBI's. Junior Jake Scott went 2-for-4, including two runs scored and a RBI. Senior Matthew Howard went 2-for-4 with a RBI. The Evangels drop to 10-27 on the season, and 2-25 in SAC play. MACU will travel to Stillwater, Okla. and play National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I opponent Oklahoma State University, Wednesday, April 16.
