April 19, 2008 4.19.08 - CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University Evangels dropped both games of a double header against the Rogers State University Hillcats in Sooner Athletic Conference play, Saturday, April 19. The Evangels lost the first game, 11-2, and fell in the second game, 10-0. MACU went 7-for-44 on the day, while RSU went 28-for-58 in the two games, including eight extra base hits. The Evangels committed three errors against the Hillcats, leading to three unearned runs. In the first game, RSU took an early lead, 2-0, after scoring a run in the bottom of the first and second innings. The Evangels answered in the top of the third innings, scoring two runs and knotting the game up, 2-2. Senior Matthew Howard and Freshman Alex Webb hit RBI singles, helping MACU tie the game. The Hillcats regained the lead in the bottom of the third inning, and never looked back. RSU scored seven runs in the final three innings of the game, and shut-out the Evangels the rest of the way to claim the 11-2 win. Howard finished the game 1-for-4 with a RBI, while Webb went 2-for-4 with a RBI. Freshman Brad Workman and Sophomore T.J. Munch had a run a-piece. In the second game, the Evangels struggled from the plate, while RSU scored runs. The Hillcats struck early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Evangels stopped RSU in the second inning, but the Hillcats scored eight runs in the final four innings of the game, and came away with the win. Senior Mike Wilkinson, Junior Jake Scott, and Workman picked up a hit a-piece in the game. The Evangels drop to 10-33 on the season, and 2-28 in SAC competition. MACU will complete its historic series with the Oklahoma State University Cowboys, Tuesday, April 22.
