ORONO, Maine - Twenty (20) University of Maine student-athletes from the football, swimming, soccer and hockey teams will take part in the Healthy Kids Day at the Bangor YMCA on Saturday evening from 6-9 p.m.
The annual event, sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross, is designed to encourage healthy and active lifestyles for children. The student-athletes will be leading various activities throughout the night as well as talking about the importance of living an active life. Members of the men's ice hockey team will also be at the Downeast YMCA in Ellsworth for Healthy Kids Day on April 12.
Black Bear student-athletes will also be taking part in an important event later on in the month of April. The Maine Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is sponsoring a benefit dinner at the Sports Cafe in Orono on April 24 from 5-8 p.m. Members of S.A.A.C. will be acting as the wait staff for the evening and all tips/donations will be donated to the March of Dimes. Black Bear fans in the surrounding communities are encouraged to attend and spend a night with the Black Bears.
