ORONO, Maine.--The University of Maine football team, in conjunction with the National Bone Marrow Testing Program, will be recruiting donors for bone marrow testing on `Maine Day,' Wednesday, April 30, from 3-7 p.m. in the Alfond Family Lounge in Alfond Arena. The entire process takes approximately 20 minutes.
The Jeff Cole Bone Marrow Drive is in honor of former Maine football assistant coach Jeff Cole. Cole served as an assistant coach for six years, and is remembered for his paasion for life and the game of football, his commitment to education and his love of family and friends.
Cole passed away on Oct. 18, 2004 after a courageous multi-year battle with cancer, but his legacy lives on as the Jeff Cole Foundation provides scholarships for young people who graduate from his high school, Avon High School, in Avon, N.Y.
