Maine to hold annual NCAA "Take a Kid to the Game" Day

Feb. 12, 2008

The University of Maine and America East have set a date for their annual NCAA Men's Basketball "Take A Kid to the Game" day for Sat., Feb. 23, when they play host to the Stony Brook Seawolves at 12 p.m. in Alfond Arena. Area youth and adults are invited to attend this special event and receive a FREE ticket with the purchase of a full priced ticket. All fans will have the opportunity to experience the college game-day atmosphere as they watch the Black Bears compete in America East play.

In it's 11th season, the "Take A Kid to the Game" (TAKG) promotion has been used in more than 700 games across the nation. The project is a grass roots initiative that attracts the nation's youth and encourages adults to take kids to area college basketball games.

"We are thrilled to invite area youth and adults to our campus and have them help as we cheer on the Black Bears to victory," said Joe Roberts, Associate Athletic Director at the University of Maine. "It is our hope that adults in the community will bring their children out to experience a collegiate athletic event at UMaine."

Tickets for this special game, which are now available, can be purchased at the University of Maine ticket office by calling (207) 581-BEAR (2327) or toll-free (800) 756-TEAM (8326).
