Men's Basketball America East Tournament Notes

March 6, 2008

The men's basketball team opens up the America East tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. against the Stony Brook Seawolves in a first round game. The winner then plays the UMBC Retrievers on Saturday at noon.

The Black Bears enter the tournament coming off a tough loss to Vermont, but for the first time in nearly a month Maine will have almost all of its players healthy.

Maine is led by sophomore guard Mark Socoby who is leading the team in points and rebounds per game at 14.0 and 5.8, respectively. Kaimondre Owes and Junior Bernal are also averaging double-figures in scoring as well. Big man Brian Andre is averaging 9.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

The game can be heard live on the Black Bear Sports Network.
