March 12, 2008

ORONO, Maine--Former University of Maine men's ice hockey captain Travis Ramsey (Lakewood, Calif.) has signed a amateur tryout contact with the Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks. Ramsey will join the Moose immediately.

Ramsey, who served as captain of the Black Bears this season, saw action in all 34 games. He scored a career-high four goals and added eight assists for 12 points. He scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the season finale against UMass Lowell on Saturday, March 8. Ramsey finished his career with 134 games played with six goals and 23 assists for 29 points. He played in the final 130 straight games to end his career.

Ramsey also excelled off the ice for the Black Bears. He was named the 2008 winner of the M Club Dean Smith Award, presented annually to the top male and female student-athlete at UMaine. In addition, he was an official candidate for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, honoring classroom, character, community and competition. Ramsey has been named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team and also has been honored as a UMaine Scholar-Athlete Award winner.
