Bellamy Signs with Philadelphia Phantoms

ORONO, Maine--Former University of Maine men's ice hockey player Rob Bellamy (Westfield, Mass.) has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League for the remained of the 2007-08 season. Bellamy will join the team on Saturday night for their game in Bridgeport.

Bellamy was a third round selection on the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft where he was selected 92nd overall.

Bellamy served as an assistant captain of the Black Bears during the 2007-08 season where he saw action in 33 games. He finished third on the team in scoring with five goals and a team-best 13 assists for 18 points. Bellamy had two power play goals on the season.

Known as a physical player, Bellamy saw action in 137 games for Maine. He scored 15 goals and added 33 assists for 48 career points. He scored three game-winning goals during his career.
