Sam Alpert Joins Maine Men's Soccer Program

Feb. 4, 2008

ORONO, Maine--University of Maine men's soccer coach Pat Laughlin announced today that Sam Alpert, a defender from Falmouth, Maine, has joined the men's soccer program. Alpert, who is currently enrolled at Maine and training with the Black Bears this spring, will be a freshman in the fall of 2008.

Alpert is a 2007 graduate of Falmouth High School. He was team captain, team most valuable player and an All-State selection at Falmouth where he led the team to the State Championship. He spent this past fall at Worcester Academy helping the team to an 11-3-2 record and a quarterfinal berth in the Class A Prep School competition. He has been a Club Soccer State Champion with Coastal Soccer Club for the last six years. He has also represented Maine in the Olympic Development Program for four years.

"Sam is a good addition to our program," said Laughlin. "He is a proven winner that has played for outstanding coaches and programs in High School, Prep School and Club soccer. Sam will get a jump on preparation for the fall by training with the team and working with our strength and conditioning coaches."
