![]() Jenna Cowan Finalist For Frozen Four Skills Competition

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - University of Maine senior captain Jenna Cowan was selected as a finalist for the Frozen Four Skills Challenge to be put on by the NCAA at the Men's Frozen Four in Denver, Colo. The Frozen Four Skills Challenge will be held April 11 at the Pepsi Center in Denver and will highlight the Friday Night at the Frozen Four. The original list of 166 players was trimmed to 66 by a selection committee. Fans can vote for their favorites among the 66 remaining finalists, which are vying for the 16 spots on each team. Fans will be able to select six position players and two goalies for each gender of the East team and each gender of the West team. The selection committee will take all voting into consideration prior to making its announcement of the final rosters mid-February. Cowan is up for nomination on the women's East team along with six other players from Hockey East: Deborah Spillane (BC), Jaclyn Hawkins (UConn), Martine Garland (UNH), Jennifer Hitchcock (UNH), Sadie Wright-Ward (UNH) and Sarah Feldman (Providence). Jenna is a senior kinesiology and physical education major from Hartney, Manitoba. She is the current captain and a defenseman for the Women's Ice Hockey team and the only current member of the team to play four years at Maine. She has played in 101 games in her career at Maine, totaling 15 points on four goals and 11 assists. --UM--
