Women's Ice Hockey to Play Benefit Broomball Game
March 12, 2008
The University of Maine Women's Ice Hockey team will play a benefit Broomball game against 3rd Watch, a group of emergency personnel. All proceeds from the game will benefit Camden Brown, the son of Andy and Tonya Brown. Andy is a dispatcher for University of Maine Public Safety and Tonya is an ER Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital and EMMC in Bangor. Their son, Camden, was born with health issues. He has spent many months in Bangor and Boston hospitals. Because of the time in Boston, the Brown's are looking at many hurdles ahead, and the game will raise money to help them out. The game itself will be played on Monday March 24 at 7:30pm at Alfond Arena on the University of Maine campus. Price for attendence is $5 and children under the age of 12 are admitted free. Tickets are available at the door at the game, on 3rd Watch's website (see below), Bangor Police Dept (off Main St. in Bangor), from 3rd Watch Team members, and the Northeast EMS office on Sylvan Road in Bangor. University of Maine Athletic Director Blake James will stand in as the guest coach for the 3rd Watch team. 3rd Watch will also be selling commemorative t-shirts for $10 with 100% of the proceeds going to the Brown family. The Women's Ice Hockey team will also be signing autographs after the game. 3rd Watch is a group of emergency personnel that enjoy playing hockey. They play to raise money for great charities and to just have fun. The 2007 - 2008 season is their 8th season as a team. Third watch plays in a men's league in Brewer, Maine and also has a travel team for fundraising events. --UM--
