Women's Soccer Releases 2008 Schedule

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's soccer team's 2008 schedule was announced on Thursday, as the Black Bears will take part in 17 regular season contests, including nine home contests.

Maine will begin the new season with three-straight home games, including the season opener on Aug. 23 versus Sacred Heart. All home Black Bear soccer games will be played at Alumni Field in Orono, with FREE admission to attend. The Black Bears head to South Berwick, Maine on Aug. 29, as they will play host to Massachusetts. Maine will wrap up the homestand two days later (Aug. 31) with a game against Rhode Island in Orono.

Maine hits the road for a pair of games to begin September, as it travels to face Temple (Sept. 5) and Iona (Sept. 7). The Black Bears return home for two contests beginning on Sept. 13 versus Bryant, and Dartmouth will follow on Sept. 18. A showdown at Cornell (Sept. 21) is the final tune-up before America East-play begins a week later on Sept. 28 at UMBC.

October rolls around as the month opens up with a home match against Albany on Oct. 2. Following a trip to Binghamton on Oct. 5, Maine returns home to Orono to face Hartford on Oct. 9. Two road contests follow, including games against Boston University (Oct. 12) and Harvard (Oct. 15).

Three final regular season contests dot the schedule after Harvard, including a pair at home. The Black Bears will play host to Vermont on Oct. 19 and New Hampshire on Oct. 23. Maine concludes the regular season with a match at Stony Brook on Oct. 26.

The America East Quarterfinals will be held on Oct. 30, with the semifinals to be played on Nov. 1. The America East Championship will be played on Nov. 8, as the winner of the contest will earn the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
