Terren Hall Named America East Rookie of the Week

March 31, 2008

ORONO, Maine - University of Maine freshman third baseman Terren Hall was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Monday for her strong performance during five games last week versus Harvard and Stony Brook. It marks the second time this season a Black Bear has won a weekly award from the conference, as Ashley Waters was named the league's player of the week back on Feb. 18.

For the week, Hall batted .450 with nine hits in 20 plate appearances. She came around for three runs, collected eight runs batted in, and had four extra-base hits (two home runs and two doubles).

Hall helped the Black Bears win their America East-opening series over Stony Brook this past weekend, as Maine took two-of-three in the set. She was the offensive catalyst on Sunday in Maine's 8-6, 12-inning victory over the Seawolves. Hall went 4-for-6, including two home runs, with five runs driven in and a pair of runs scored. Her second home run was a two-run shot in the 12th inning, which proved to be the eventual game-winning runs for the Black Bears.

Sunday's contest wasn't the only game that Hall had a big offensive display. In the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against SBU, Hall went 3-for-3 with a run scored. She had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs in the first game of last Thursday's doubleheader versus Harvard.

For the season, Hall is batting .255 with five home runs, 15 RBIs and six doubles. Her home-run total is tied with Waters for tops on the team, while her six doubles are most on the squad. Hall's 15 RBIs are second on the team and are only one behind Whitney Spangler's team-leading 16.
