Milwaukee - The Marquette University men's basketball team (22-8, 11-7 BIG EAST) has earned the No. 6 seed in the 2008 BIG EAST Championship Presented by Aeropostale and will open tournament play Wednesday, March 12 at 8 p.m. versus No. 11 seed Seton Hall (17-14, 7-11 BIG EAST) at Madison Square Garden.

The Golden Eagles concluded the regular season tied for fifth overall with West Virginia, but the Mountaineers earned the No. 5 seed by virtue of their 79-64 victory over MU on Jan. 6. SHU secured the 11th seed following the team's 64-61 loss to Rutgers Sunday afternoon.

Marquette swept the home-and-home series with the Pirates in 2007-08, posting a 61-56 win at the Bradley Center on Jan. 8 before earning an 89-64 decision on Feb. 12 at the Prudential Center.

The MU/SHU winner will advance to face No. 3 seed Notre Dame at 8 p.m. CT Thursday night. Each of the 11 games of the tournament will be broadcast on ESPN.
