Inaugural Wisconsin Division I Men's Soccer Cup Kicks Off Sunday
April 25, 2008
MILWAUKEE - Marquette will close out its 2008 spring season in grand fashion at Valley Fields Sunday, April 27 when the Golden Eagles host each of the state's NCAA Division I men's soccer programs. Wisconsin, Milwaukee and Green Bay are scheduled to compete in the inaugural Wisconsin Cup. Admission is free and open to the public. A total of four games will be played with each game featuring two 35-minute halves. Action begins at 10 a.m. with the Golden Eagles battling their cross-town rival, the Panthers of UWM, in the third annual Bob Summy Memorial match. Summy was a longtime supporter of local collegiate soccer and a close friend of both the Golden Eagles' and Panthers' coaching staffs. Each year following his passing in 2005 the two schools have played a game in his honor. At 11:15 a.m., Wisconsin will take on Green Bay. The winner of each contest will then play each other at 3 p.m. The loser of game one and the loser of game two will also kick off at 3 p.m. on the artificial turf field. Sunday, April 27
