Milwaukee - Stan Anderson, a member of the Marquette men's soccer coaching staff, will be inducted into the Palatine High School (Ill.) Hall of Fame this weekend in recognition for his accomplishments at the school in the 1980's.

Anderson starred in both soccer and baseball at Palatine, earning the school's male athlete of the year award in 1985. He led the area in shutouts and goals-against-average during his career on the varsity squad. He was also an accomplished power hitter on the diamond, topping the squad in home runs and was selected to compete in a long-ball hitting contest.

"Words can't describe this honor," Anderson said. "It's a call that you never think you are going to get. It means a lot to me that my father will be able to attend the ceremony."

Anderson's father, Chic, was the school's longtime athletic director and was inducted into the school's hall of fame in the program's inaugural class.

"Anything Stan has been involved in has been very successful and now it's starting to catch up with him," head coach Louis Bennett said. "It's a great achievement and I couldn't be more proud of his recognition."

Also in the 2007 class are Joe Petricca (coach), Don Crandall (coach/administrator) and Carolyn Currins-Scanlon (cross country/track). The reception will be held Friday night in conjunction with the school's varsity football game.
