Great American ThunderFest To Take Place This Weekend

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - This weekend, the MU Club of Cincinnati, along with the Marshall Alumni Association and the Big Green will be hosting the Great American ThunderFest.

The event will consist of the Atlanta Braves/Cincinnati Reds contest on Saturday afternoon and concludes with Sunday's Big Green Coaches tour golf tournament at Legendary Run Golf Course.

Saturday's activities will be based around the Reds game, which is scheduled for a 3:55 p.m. start at Great American Ballpark. Marshall fans receive an early entry into the stadium at 12:30 p.m. for a pre-game reception in the Fan Zone featuring representatives of Marshall University and the Reds.

Marshall president Dr. Stephen J. Kopp is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game. Throughout the game clips from "We Are Marshall" will be shown.

Sunday's golf tournament is set to take place at Legendary Run Golf Course. Several Marshall coaches including men's basketball coach Donnie Jones, baseball coach Jeff Waggoner and football defensive coordinator Rick Minter are scheduled to participate in the tournament.
