HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University Director of Athletics Bob Marcum has announced the hiring of Aaron Goebbel as Marshall's Assistant Athletic Director for Ticketing.

He replaces Matt Monroe, who recently accepted a similar position at the University of Maryland.

"It is great to have someone already here that was capable and interested in the position," Director of Athletics Bob Marcum said. "I am confident in Aaron's abilities to oversee the ticket office and it is exciting to be able to hire a graduate of our masters program here at Marshall."

Goebbel spent the last four years in the operations and facilities department at Marshall and has served as the Director of Events since 2006. In that position, he was in charge of all game operations for MU's Olympic sports while assisting in the operations for football and basketball.

"I am excited about the opportunity to continue my athletic career here at Marshall University," Goebbel said. "I look forward to helping Marshall athletics increase its fan base and improve athletic ticket sales."

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Goebbel began his tenure at MU in 2004 as a graduate assistant following his stint as an intern in the Bowling Green State University athletics department. He earned his bachelor's in education from BGSU in 2004 before earning a master's in health and physical education from Marshall in 2006.
