ATHENS, Ohio - Marshall University's Nate Lape and Victor Gomez each garnered All-Mideast Region accolades as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Ohio head coach Joe Carbone, chairman of the NCAA Mideast Region All-American Committee, Tuesday.

Lape earned first team honors, while Gomez secured a spot on the second team. Each team is comprised of 13 slots, three pitchers, three outfielders, a reliever, catcher, first baseman, second baseman, third baseman, shortstop and designated hitter.

Lape was the team leader in offense for the Herd this season. He was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week and baseballnews.com Louisville Slugger's National Player of the Week on March 17. He finished the regular season with a .385 batting average and 74 hits, including 16 doubles, 14 home runs and 52 runs batted in, all of which were team-highs.

Gomez batted .358 in his debut campaign with, 11 homers and 47 RBIs, finishing second on the team in all three categories. He also earned C-USA Hitter of the Week honors, April 28 by going 11-for-21 at the plate with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs.
