Feb. 23, 2008
FLORENCE, S.C. - The Marshall University men's golf team will resume play at the third-annual Wexford Intercollegiate, hosted by Francis Marion University, on Monday and Tuesday, on Hilton Head Island. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Marshall's five-man lineup consists of seniors Trent Schambach and Jonathan Pepe, sophomores Christian Brand and Josh Boswell and junior Nathan Kinker. Brand and Kinker paced the Herd in last week's first event of the spring, the UTSA Intercollegiate, with scores of 224 (t-33rd). As a team, MU finished in a tie for 13th place in San Antonio. The 15-team Wexford Intercollegiate field includes Francis Marion, Bowling Green, Davidson, East Carolina, Elon, Furman, George Washington, Kennesaw State, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Oakland, Presbyterian, USC Aiken, Winthrop and Wofford. Monday will mark the return to intercollegiate competition for the NIU squad after the school canceled all sporting events following the recent shootings on campus.
