Men's Golf Returns to South Carolina for Palmetto Intercollegiate

AIKEN, S.C. - The Marshall University men's golf team will compete in the 54-hole Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, hosted by USC-Aiken at the par-71, 6,713-yard Palmetto Golf Club, on Monday and Tuesday.

The 15-team field will tee off with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Monday for 36 holes before concluding the tournament with 18 holes beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Marshall is coming off a 12th place finish at the Wexford Intercollegiate. Sophomore Christian Brand paces the Thundering Herd through two spring events with a 75.7 stroke average in six rounds.

Head coach Joe Feaganes altered his lineup for this week's event, inserting redshirt freshman Bennett Boyer. The Millersburg, Pa., native will make his first career start on Monday. Joining Brand and Boyer will be seniors Trent Schambach and Jonathan Pepe and junior Nathan Kinker.

The Palmetto Intercollegiate field consists of Akron, Charleston Southern, Elon, Francis Marion, Furman, Jacksonville St., Marshall, Nebraska, Penn State, Presbyterian, Rhode Ishland, UNC Greensboro, USC-Aiken, UT-Chattanooga and Virginia Tech.
