Herd Adds Angelica Harris To Signing Class
May 12, 2008
HUNTINGTON, W. Va. - Marshall University head women's basketball coach Royce Chadwick has announced the signing of Angelica "Stick" Harris to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Thundering Herd this fall. Harris, a native of Memphis, Tenn., comes to Marshall from Rend Lake (Ill.) Community College where she averaged 14.5 points and six rebounds per game. She was an extremely accurate shooter in junior college, shooting .450 from the floor and an astounding .400 from three-point range. "Stick is a tenacious defender and a deadly three-point shooter," Chadwick said. "We felt three-point shooting was a weakness on our team in 07-08 and she is exactly the type of shooter we were searching for." Harris will be one of three newcomers at the guard position on the team next season, joining 2007-08 redshirts Rashedah Henriques and Tania Walters on the floor. Henriques came to Marshall midway through last season. She is a sharpshooting three-point specialist who excels in shooting on the move off a pick or the dribble. Walters' strengths will come on the defensive side. The Toronto, Ontario native is the fastest guard in the program and has used that quickness to become a tenacious defender and an unstoppable penetrator.
