NEW YORK CITY, New York - After breaking a school indoor record in the shot put last week, senior Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) hit a new mark with a throw of 46 feet and eight and ¼ inches at the New Balance Invitational in New York City.

Sophomore Andrea Jackson (Sumter, S.C.) broke through with a school record in the triple jump leaping 39 feet and 11 and ½ inches. Jackson finished second because of her recording breaking jump.

Jackson's leap beat teammate Teniqua Sutton's record from 2005. Sutton (Westbury, N.J.) finished in fourth in the same event with a jump of 39 feet and 10 and ½ inches.

The Marshall University Women's Track team will compete next at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Clemson Feb. 15-16.
