Christi McRae and Jordan Neil lead McNeese in second day of Southland Conference indoor track and field meet

HOUSTON, TX - Christi McRae and Jordan Neil were the only McNeese State athletes to medal during the final day of the Southland Conference indoor track and field championship meet on Saturday.

McRae finished second in the women's 400 meter dash with a school record 55.80 clocking while Neil was a third place finisher in the men's mile run with a 4:16.05 effort.

The Cowboys wound up scoring a total of 44 points and finished seventh in their division while the Cowgirls tallied 27 1/2 points and were 10th.

UT San Antonio won the men's title with 122 points. Other scoring had Stephen F. Austin with 101 1/2, UT Arlington 98 1/2, Lamar 62, SE Louisiana 62, Northwestern State 47, TAM Corpus Christi 40, Sam Houston State 38, Texas State 34 and Central Arkansas 14.

Sam Houston State won the women's crown with 138 points and was followed by SFA with 114 1/2, Texas State 93 1/2, Lamar 72, TAM Corpus Christi 60, UT Arlington 50, UTSA 39, SE Louisiana 28 1/2, Northwestern State 28, Nicholls State 8 and Central Arkansas 4.

McRae also finished fifth in the 200 meter dash with a 25.22 effort.

Others scoring points for the Cowgirls were Amy Guinn with fifth place showings in the mile run (5:10.69) and 3000 meters (10:18.89), DeAnn Washington with a seventh in the shot put (39-5) and Julie Buller with a seventh place in the pole vault (11-3 3/4).

For the Cowboys, Stephen Scullion ran fifth in the mile run at 4:18.52 and John Jamail was sixth in the shot put at 52-1 1/4.
