John Jamail leads McNeese at the Kansas Relays

April 18, 2008

A fourth place showing by John Jamail in the men's shot put led McNeese State's efforts during the second day of the Kansas Relays on Friday.

The Cowboy senior went 54-5 1/2 in the event.

Also in the shot put, freshman Jacob Domingue finished 10th at 49-4 1/2.

Leading the Cowgirl performances was a 55.23 clocking by Christi McRae in the 400 meter prelims. This time won her heat and was the third fastest overall. She will run in the finals on Saturday.

Also on Friday, Julie Buller finished ninth in the javelin at 127-6 and Lindsay Brooks placed 16th in the high jump at 5-3.

DeAnn Washington fouled on three straight attempts in the women's shot put and the Cowgirl 4x100 meter relay team ran 50.42 and didn't qualify for the finals.

Besides McRae in the 400 meters, all of the events for the Cowboys and the Cowgirls on Saturday will be relay races.

Several McNeese athletes will also be participating in the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge on Saturday. Among those will be javelin thrower Carlese Franklin and jumpers Darrick and Marcus Brown
