Cowboys kick off three game road swing against Central Arkansas

Jan. 25, 2008

McNeese State begins a three game basketball road swing on Saturday when the Cowboys play at Central Arkansas in Conway.

Tipoff is 6 p.m., the Cowboys going in with an 8-8 overall record and a 2-2 conference tab. The Bears are 11-8 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

McNeese is coming off a Wednesday night victory over Northwestern State while the Bears bowed to Lamar in overtime on Thursday. Following this game the Cowboys will also play at Lamar (Feb. 2) and at Southeastern Louisiana (Feb. 6) before playing at home (Feb. 9) against Nicholls State.

Saturday's game will only be the fourth time these two schools have played each other. McNeese has won all three previous meetings and beat the Bears twice last season.

Senior forward Jarvis Bradley leads the Cowboys in both scoring (12.9 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 per game) and he's coming off a double, double against Northwestern State.

Also in that outing John Pichon pulled 10 rebounds and had seven assists while Diego Kapelan came off the bench for a career high 21 points. Pichon, John Ford, Kleon Penn and Rorey Lawrence are expected to join Bradley in the Cowboy starting lineup.

Central Arkansas has four players scoring in double figures with Nate Bowie leading the way with a 16.1 average. Marcus Pillow has a 13.9 average, York Sims a 12.3 and Durrell Nevels a 10.7 mark. Nevels also leads the team in rebound with an 8.4 average.

The Bears go into the game on a four game losing streak, all of the loses coming in conference play.
