Cowboys play at Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday and host Nicholls State on Saturday

Feb. 5, 2008

McNeese State's Cowboys will play two Southland Conference games in the next four days, one on the road and the other at home.

The Cowboys tackle Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday in Hammond in an attempt to snap a two game losing streak. They will host Nicholls State on Saturday in a game that will be televised by Cox Sports and will also serve as a pack the house night for the Cowboys.

McNeese now stands 2-4 in league play and is 8-10 overall. Since beating Northwestern State on January 23, the Cowboys have dropped games to Central Arkansas (57-43) and to Lamar (89-67).

Southeastern Louisiana will go into Wednesday's contest with a 12-8 overall record and a 4-3 league mark. The Lions have also won two of their last three games and three of their last five. They bowed to Northwestern State by a 60-55 score in their last appearance.

The Lions feature three double figure scorers and are led by Kevyn Green who has a 15.3 mark. Warrell Span is averaging 12.3 points per game while Tavaris Nance has a 10.6 mark. Patrick Sullivan is the team's leading rebounder with a 7.0 average.

Jarvis Bradley leads the Cowboys in scoring and is the team's only double figure scorer. He's tops in both scoring (13.2 ppg) and in rebounding (7.2 per game).

Point guard John Ford is averaging 8.9 points and a team high 3.1 assists per game while center Kleon Penn leads the conference with a 3.4 average on blocked shots.

McNeese holds a 56-31 edge over the Lions in the school series. They split last year with the Lions taking a 69-64 win in overtime in Hammond (John Pichon had 11 rebounds for the Cowboys) while McNeese came back to win 63-45 in Lake Charles with Bradley scoring 18 points.

Wednesday's game carries a 7 p.m. start and all action can be listened to over Cajun radio 1470 AM.

Saturday's pack the house game against Nicholls State will have $1 admission for all.
