Dave Simmons to serve as speaker at coaching clinic in Baton Rouge

May 7, 2008

McNeese State head basketball coach Dave Simmons will be one of the guest speakers at a coaching clinic being held in conjunction with the LABC (Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches) Hall of Fame induction on Saturday in Baton Rouge.

Simmons will lecture during the clinic at Parkview Baptist High School beginning at 9 a.m. He will talk on the matchup zone.

Joining Simmons as guest speakers for the clinic will be Mark Slessinger of Northwestern State, Kerry Rupp of Louisiana Tech, Greg Gary of Centenary and a member of the LSU women's basketball staff.

The Hall of Fame induction will take place at the Embassy Suites in Baton Rouge that night. Slated for induction are former Tulane standout Paul Thompson and former Tulane head coach Perry Clark.

Longtime basketball official Gerald Boudreaux will be honored as the group's Mr. Basketball.

Simmons was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a player last year.
