Junior Courtnee' Hollins Earns Second Southland Player of the Week Honors

Hollins Named Southland's Player of the Week

Feb. 4, 2008

FRISCO, Texas-- McNeese State's junior guard Courtnee' Hollins earned her second and the Cowgirls' third Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor when she received the honor Monday.

The native of Grant scored a game high 30 points to lead McNeese State in a 81-74 upset victory over East Division leader Lamar on Saturday. The loss was Lamar's first SLC loss of the season and first home loss this season.

Despite fighting flu-like symptoms, Hollins shot 57.1 percent from the field, making eight of 14. She was nearly flawless from three-point range, making six of eight for 75percent.

Hollins helped the Cowgirls set a McNeese single game record with 16 three-pointers. She was perfect from the free throw line, making all eight attempts. With her eight free throws made, Hollins has made 22 consecutive free throws to date which ties a school record. She has scored 20 or more points in the last four games and five of six SLC games and has scored 30 or more points in two out of the last four games. She was also credited with four rebounds and dished out four assists in Saturday's win.
