Feb. 7, 2008

BATON ROUGE-- McNeese State's Courtnee' Hollins picked up another weekly honor today by being named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Earlier in the week, Hollins was named the Southland's Player of the Week. The honor is Hollins' and McNeese State's this season.

The junior from Grant, La., scored a game high 30 points to lead the Cowgirls in a 81-74 Southland Conference upset win over East Division leader Lamar last Saturday. She shot 57.1 percent from the field, making eight of 14 attempts and 75 percent from three-point range (6-8). Hollins was perfect from the free throw line, making all eight which extended her free throw string to 22 consecutive, tying a season record. The guard has scored 20 or more points in the last four games, five of six Southland Conference games and 30 or more points in two out of the last four games.
