Maggie Welch Is In Fourth Place After Day 1
 
 
Cowgirls In Eighth Place Of Cowgirl Invitational

KINDER-- McNeese State's women's golf team sits in eighth place following two rounds on Saturday at Koasati Pines Golf Course in the 16 team field of the Cowgirl Invitational. The final round will get underway with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

McNeese posted rounds of 314 and 321 for a tournament total of 635. Lamar, the 2007 tournament runners-up is in the lead with a team score of 606 (306-300). The Cardinals hold a two shot lead over Central Arkansas with a 608. South Alabama is in third followed Florida International, Texas A&M-CC, Sam Houston State, Texas-San Antonio, McNeese State, Arkansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, McLennan CC, Wichita State, Nicholls State, Troy, Centenary and Houston Baptist.

Central Arkansas Nicole Forshner is the individual leader at 144. Forshner fired par 72's in both rounds Saturday and holds a two shot lead over teammate Rebecca Sorensen and South Alabama's Elin Andersson who both ended the day with 146.

McNeese State's Maggie Welch is in fourth place after shooting a par 72 in the first round and a 75 in the second round for a first day total of 147, three shots behind the leader.
