Cowgirl Golf Team In Fifth Place After Day One of the Claude Jacobs Intercollegiate

VICTORIA, Tx.-- McNeese State's women's golf team sits in fifth place following the first two rounds of the Claude Jacobs Intercollegiate hosted by Texas State. The tournament is the final tournament before the Southland Conference Tournament April 20-23 at the Beaumont Country Club.

The Cowgirls ended the first round in sixth place with a score of 315 before shooting a 325 in the second round for a team total of 640. The final round will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Lamar leads the field of 12 teams with a four shot lead 607 over second place Sam Houston State's 611. Host Texas State is in third place with a 615 followed by Central Arkansas with a 628.

Maggie Welch was the Cowgirls' top finisher on the day, tied for 15th place with a 157. Welch shot a 77 in the first round before ending the day with an 80 in the second round for a 157.

Lacy McKinley is tied for 20th place with a 158. McKinley shot 79's in both rounds for a 158. In Sunday's College Am, she made a hole-in-one on the 149 yard, Par 3 using her six iron.

Other Cowgirl scorers have Jennifer Herrmann in a tie for 31st with a 165, Jacy Reynolds is in a tie for 37th with a 165. Reynolds shot her lowest collegiate round with a 76 in the first round. Randi Fischer closes out the Cowgirl scoring with a 174, shooting 87 in each round.
