Lindsey Langner Goes 4 for 4 In Game One Of Series
 
 
Cowgirls Drop SLC Doubleheader At Texas-San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas-- McNeese State's softball team dropped a pair of Southland Conference games here Saturday night to Texas-San Antonio in a doubleheader by the scores of 7-3, 12-0 (5 innings) to fall to 7-15 overall and 2-3 in league play. The series will conclude with a single game at Noon Sunday.

In the opening game of the series, McNeese took a 1-0 lead on a RBI double by pitcher Michelle LaVoie that scored Lindsey Langner who led the game off with a bunt single. Jenny Clay gave the Cowgirls a 2-0 lead when she crossed the plate on a RBI fielder's choice by Molly Guidry.

UTSA cut the Cowgirl lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning on a sac fly by Krista Sitka. The Roadrunners took a 3-2 lead in the third on a two run homer by Danye' Holmes then scored single runs in the fourth and fifth. The fifth UTSA run came on Holmes' second home run of the game. Two more runs in the bottom of the sixth gave UTSA a 7-2 lead. McNeese added a single run in the seventh on a RBI double by Clay that scored Rachel King. Langner led the Cowgirls with a 4 for 4 plate appearance while LaVoie took the loss.

UTSA scored runs in four of the five innings and hit three home runs in the night cap to take the 12-0 five inning victory. The Roadrunners scored three runs on four hits in the first, five runs on six hits in the second, three runs in the third and a single run in the fourth for the victory. McNeese was outhit 15-3 in the game with singles coming from Langner, Holly Long and Tiffany Ritchie. Candace Duhon took the loss in 1 2/3 innings of work falling to 2-2 on the year.
