MONROE-- McNeese State's women's tennis team dropped its season opener here Wednesday at Louisiana-Monroe by a 5-2 score. The Warhawks (2-0) took the doubles point by winning two out of three matches. McNeese senior Natascha Jongeneel and sophomore Inga Efimenko defeated Marion Lehmann and Elodi Burket 8-7 in the no. 3 doubles match.

The Cowgirls picked up their two points in singles victories by newcomer Meri Gol Alamo at the no. 1 singles. Alamo defeated Noeli Leon 6-1, 4-6, 7-6. The other Cowgirl point came from Efimenko's victory over Burket at the no. 6 singles by a 6-2, 6-4 score.

McNeese (0-1) will host Louisiana-Lafayette at Noon on Monday, Feb. 4 at the Cowgirl Courts on campus.
