Cowgirls Win Two Matches On The Weekend

Results

McNeese State's women's tennis team defeated Louisiana Tech 6-1 Saturday and Memphis 5-2 Sunday to improve to 5-7 overall. The Cowgirls' home match against Marist scheduled for today at 2 p.m. has been cancelled. The Cowgirls will return to Southland Conference play when they will travel to Lamar (10-1, 2-0 SLC) Thursday for a 2 p.m. match. The Cowgirls will be looking for their first Southland Conference victory of the season when they enter the match 0-4 in league play.

Against Louisiana Tech, McNeese took the doubles point with a sweep and won five of six singles matches to take the match. The Memphis match was played in Natchitoches on the Northwestern State campus. The Cowgirls took a 1-0 lead by winning two of three doubles matches before closing out the match by winning four of six singles matches.

Meri Gol Alamo, the Cowgirls' no.1 singles player leads the team with a 7-5 overall record. Inga Efimenko will enter the match with a 6-5 record as the Cowgirls' no. 6 player. The no. 1 doubles team (Alamo/Victoria Martinez) and no. 2 doubles team (Mario del Rocio Frausto/Petra Gudelj) both lead the doubles teams with 6-6 record.
