Cowgirls Defeat Nicholls State 4-1 In SLC Tennis Match
April 5, 2008 LAKE CHARLES- McNeese State's women's tennis team won their third straight match and fifth out of their last seven to improve to 8-9 overall and 2-5 in Southland Conference play with a 4-1 SLC victory over Nicholls State. After winning the doubles point with 8-3 victories by Meri Gol Alamo and Victoria Martinez at the no. 1 doubles and Inga Efimenko and Natascha Jongeneel at the no. 3 doubles, McNeese went on to win three singles matches. The overall match was called after McNeese reached four victories. Petra Gudelj defeated Sumana Kalyanasundra 6-2, 6-4 and Jongeneel defeated Natalie Zomara 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to give the Cowgirls an overall 3-1 lead. Efiminko's 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 win over Nicole September was the deciding match that gave the Cowgirls the overall win. McNeese will conclude its home schedule today with a 10 a.m. Southland Conference match against Southeastern La. |
