LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese State's women's tennis team dropped its final home match of the season 7-0 to first place Southeastern La. here Sunday. The loss drops the Cowgirls to 7-10 overall and 2-6 in league play. Southeastern La., the only undefeated team in the Southland Conference at 13-2 overall and 7-0 in the SLC, extended their winning streak to 12 matches and now have won their last 42 matches in league play. The streak dates back to the 2005 season.

The Cowgirls were overpowered by a very good Southeastern La. team here Sunday but gave a good effort. The Lions took an early 1-0 lead by winning all three doubles matches then went on to win all six singles matches for the overall victory. The final match between Iva Velkovska and McNeese's Victoria Martinez almost went to a third set but Velkovska prevailed with a 6-1, 7-6 victory.
