Tennis Team Defeats Alcorn State 7-0

LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese State's women's tennis team picked up a 7-0 victory over Alcorn State here Saturday to improve to 3-3 on the year.

McNeese won the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead then swept through the singles matches to take the overall victory. Meri Gol Alamo improved to 4-2 on the year at the no. 1 spot with a 0-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Swetla Deuraj. Vicky Martinez won in straight sets with a 6-3. 6-2 win at the no. 2 spot. Also winning in straight sets was Petra Gudelj at the no. 5 singles.

McNeese will begin Southland Conference play at Stephen F. Austin this weekend with a 2 p.m. match then will make their way to Sam Houston State on Sunday for a 10 a.m.
