Tennis Team Begins Southland Conference Play This Weekend

McNeese State's women's tennis team will begin Southland Conference play this weekend when the Cowgirls travel to Texas to face Stephen F. Austin in a 2 p.m. match today and a 10 a.m. match at Sam Houston State Sunday. The Cowgirls head into the weekend with a 3-3 overall record after defeating Alcorn State last Saturday. The Cowgirls have won three of its last four matches.

Meri Gol Alamo, the Cowgirls' no. 1 singles player leads the team with a 5-1 record with her only blemish coming on a 6-4, 6-2 loss in the Louisiana-Lafayette match. Alamo is on a four match winning streak.

The no. 1 doubles team made up of Alamo and Victoria Martinez are 3-3 as is the no. 2 doubles team of Maria Frausto and Petra Gudelj. Both teams have won three of their last four doubles matches.
