Cowboy Club donates glass trophy case to McNeese Hall of Fame
Aug. 1, 2007 An addition to the McNeese State athletic Hall of Fame was recently made by the McNeese Cowboy Club which purchased a five foot x three and a half foot trophy case. The case is being used to display Cowboy and Cowgirl athletic memorabilia as well as items donated by members of the McNeese Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is located in the foyer of the Jack Doland athletic fieldhouse and now has 95 members. An announcement of the 2007 Hall of Fame class will be made later in the week. Among current items in the Hall are footballs from various games, the coaching jacket worn by the late Jack Doland, a letter sweater donated by David Poche, a baseball which Bobby Barnes used to throw a no-hitter in 1967, a football jersey worn by Johnnie Thibodeaux, a letter blanket from the late Nolan Viator, a letter jacket from Arthur Lee, the retired jersey No. 23 worn by Ben Broussard and the baseball he hit out of the ball park for his record setting 27th home run and a Detroit Piston jersey worn by Joe Dumars. Anyone interested in donating items for the Hall of Fame can contact Louis Bonnette at 337-475-5207 or at lbonnette@mcneese.edu. |
